To start the outer packaging box is sturdy and colorful, a step up from the usual chinese packaging. Opening the package finds one face to face with
the FC Mobile II unit itself, two IR wireless controllers, AV and AC cables, and a wireless Zapper. The build quality of the FC Mobile is decent,
again a step up from the usual cheap Chinese items. Dust flap on the cartridge port is a nice touch. Build quality of the controllers and zapper is
less nice, They get a 2 out of 5. I don't think they will stand up to much abuse. I tested the two wireless controllers and they work fine even in Sun
but the Dpads are pretty soft and flimsy. For essentially freebies the wireless controllers are nice enough. Output to TV was sharp and the colors
seemed pretty accurate, as accurate as my NEX anyway. LCD on the FC Mobile II unit I'm less impressed with, it seems to have slight banding and the
colors are more washed out. Better than a Game Gear LCD, worse than a DS. Maybe same as the LCD on the original GBA with an Afterburner upgrade. LCD
gets a 2.5 out of 5. The buttons themselves feel good, the Dpad is a little stiff but works well and will probably loosen up with a little more play.
The unit has played all my games but here is about a mm to 1.5 mm of play in the cartridge slot which lets me flop the cart around a bit. The cart is
solid in the actual port however. Some carts I can pull up on the cart and lock the game, probably due to a pin missing connection. I may just have an
improperly milled slot and it is not a major problem, just to be safe I stuck a small strip of gaffer tape on the inside edge of the slot which
tightened it up. Works great. Given the build quality, included items, compatibility, and mediocre LCD I'd give this a 3.5 out of 5 for 50 bucks, At
$40 I'd give it a 4 out of 5. Hyperkin could have afforded to spring for a better LCD. For a mobile NES fix it's a solid system I've had good luck
buying from 8-Bit Classics.
