I was really excited about this, but it was definitely a mixed bag. The analog stick is very nice on certain games, but I had a very hard time controlling it with any precision. For example, I had a very hard time not running into walls in Berzerk, and very hard to play Ms. Pac-Man – steady stream of forced errors and missed corners there. But it was GREAT on games with only one axis of motion, like Space Invaders. This might improve with more practice, to get the hang of this thing, but its not a slam dunk out of the box.
The paddle knob is WAY too stiff, such that I was always fighting the knob to quickly get precisely in position for really tight paddle games like Circus Atari and Kaboom. It was better with Breakout, where you have the whole paddle to hit, but that also went off the rails when the ball sped up. After a little while it made my hand start to ache, so that was the end of that. This was really disappointing, as I thought this was a really cool feature.
Very cool concepts in this controller, but its not a controller that I can enthusiastically recommend. I bought two and will keep one, but the other one is going to go.
