Space Gladiator delivers fast-paced arena combat to the Atari 2600, placing you in the role of a cybernetic warrior fighting for glory in a futuristic interstellar tournament.

Set thousands of years in the future, the planet Ares hosts a legendary gladiatorial competition held once every 500 years. Warriors from across the galaxy enter the arena to compete for fame, fortune, and the coveted title of Monster Gladiator. As technology advanced, competitors began transforming themselves into powerful cybernetic beings—half living warrior, half machine—capable of surviving battle after battle and defending their championship for centuries.

In the year 6551, a determined fighter named Takahiro Akihiko enters the arena alongside his father, having transformed his body into a cybernetic gladiator. His goal is clear: defeat every challenger and claim the title of the greatest gladiator in the universe.

Inside the arena, Takahiro must face 35 armored warriors inspired by mythological gods and heroes from cultures around the world. These relentless opponents attack with powerful electric projectiles that ricochet off the arena walls, forcing players to constantly move, dodge, and strike at the right moment. Surviving the onslaught requires quick reflexes, careful positioning, and the courage to face wave after wave of deadly combatants.

Using your joystick, you control Takahiro’s movement in all directions across the arena floor. The fire button launches laser arrows toward incoming enemies, allowing you to strike back and clear the path to victory. Every encounter becomes a test of timing and survival as the arena fills with bouncing energy attacks and advancing fighters.

Defeat all challengers and survive the trials of the arena to claim the legendary Monster Gladiator trophy and the champion’s belt.

Controls

Use the joystick to move Takahiro Akihiko left, right, up, and down within the arena.

Press the fire button to begin the next battle and to launch laser arrows at your enemies.

Press the RESET switch to exit the Game Over or You Win screen and begin a new challenge.
