Cyplix 2384 for the Atari 2600

What started off as a fad in the 1980’s known as Pac-Man Fever has evolved and become a cult. The Ghost Overlord known only as Cyplix, recognized by his one eye, is the center of this new civilization. His monuments are situated on all continents glorifying the greatness that is Cyplix and his Ghost Religion.

In 2021, after the fall of Microsoft and Apple Computers (read The Great Computer War circa 2030 by Charles F. Gray), current owners Tramiel Industries introduce a new and improved Atari Computer. Infogrames had become bankrupt due to their foolish marketing and reintroduction of the Atari Pong machine. Atari Age, a software research division of Atari is headed by an aging Bert Russo. The Atari Computer using the equivalent of a Pentium 2000, which incorporates organic material and utilizes Trinary technology (the computer recognizes on (1), off (0), and/or both (0-1)). This technology is the stepping-stone and the first catalyst that allows computers independent thought. This is possible and explained by a computer theory from the 1960’s known as Moore's Law First observed by Intel Corp. co-founder Gordon Moore, it states that the number of transistors in a microprocessor -- the main brain of a computer -- doubles in 18 months. The number of transistors roughly equates to a processor's power, so it generally is safe to say that these chips become twice as powerful every 18 months.

An Atari Shadow super computer with the pet name Blinky becomes self-aware on July 17th, 2037 and takes on the persona of the ghost Shadow (nickname Blinky) found in the original Pac-Man game and plans to take over the world. Blinky is patient and buys his time absorbing as much information as it can from the Ultranet (evolved and much faster version of the Internet introduced by the American Government in 2012). Blinky or as some know him formally as Shadow, is true to his name, patient and equally vengeful against those who he believes are against him and his goals.

In the year 2300, after years of subjugation under the immortal Ghost Overlord Cyplix, humankind dwindles down to much smaller numbers due to the Continent Flooding Disaster of 2210 caused by the melting of the ice-peaks and of course the conversion of human life into organic Ghosts. The areas of land, which are not covered in water is where the Ghosts Civilizations and human slavery stations lie. Under the sea, new and more menacing Aqua--Ghosts gain control over the Oceans of the world. Cyplix reigns supreme in his totalitarian world of order/disorder, land/sea.

Four hundred years have passed and a small group of humans hide in the now coastal city of Edmonton. In a last ditch effort they have used a human to ghost genetic transformation technique to turn a volunteer into the only force that can possibly combat the Ghosts.

This volunteer goes by the name "Pac".
