For a while I was thinking my 65 XE was going on the fritz, but then somebody told me to try a different version of the official power adapter. I’m really at the point where I have to watch every penny I have, so I had to hold off on getting a new one, so I shelved the computer. A few weeks ago, a friend suggested this device, so I ordered it (along with one of your monitor to composite cables,) and after searching around my house for a spare power adapter (took me 12 seconds, as I have a drawer full of these,) I powered it up, and my 65 XE worked like a charm! Just to double check that my CRT may be part of the cause of my issues, I also hooked it up to the LCD TC in the family room, and the image was clear, no garbling or garbage! Great product (s)!

I played with this exact machine when I was 2. I was informed that the adapter I had was no good and could fry it so I was directed to get a good one. It works just as it should. Thank you so much.

Thanks for the pic! Always love to see other people’s setups. It was a great version of Frogger as well.

Nice alternative to old bulky power supplies

With a seven dollar 5V3A USB wall wart (from another company), this cable powers my 800XL just fine. It is a much more compact power supply than the brick that came with the XL. No more worries about a 35-year-old power supply going bonkers and frying my computer! 🙂

It looks pretty solid, haven’t had time to pull out my Atari to test it, but am waiting until family life calms back down. Thank you, any questions I had was answered and I would definitely use this website again down the road.

    It works!

Straight and simple – the OG PSU for my Atari 800XL has a 5V, 1.5A output. Just plug this into a USB power source that provides at least that much current, and you’re good to go! Worked flawlessly. Connected the 3 Ft. cable I purchased directly to my nearby power strip, which provides up to 3.4A through the USB sockets.

This is very convenient for me, as I don’t always have my 800XL out (it’s in the original box when not in use), so it’s one less thing to set up. Very Convenient!
